Chickens
Last Summer, we queued up in a very muddy field somewhere in Nantwich along with dozens of other crazy people who decided to rescue some barn hens and give them a new lease of life. They would otherwise have been slaughtered just because they had reached the stage where they might have been laying one or two less eggs per week than when at their peak. It was the start of our great chicken adventure. The girls laid two eggs on the way home and the production line has not ceased since with an average of six eggs from 11 hens every day even through the Winter months and through Storms Ciara and Dennis!
We have learned a lot since then and the girls are in peak condition, laying top quality eggs. The next step is to increase our flock. Plans are afoot for more accommodation so that we can welcome new arrivals when the weather improves.
